If Tarkov shows error 229, the text beside the number is more useful than a generic list of "quick fixes." In particular, a message saying your account is blocked or banned should be treated as an account notice, not dismissed as a routine connection problem.
We have not verified a current official definition that covers every appearance of error 229. This guide therefore does not claim that most cases are harmless, that a missing email rules out a ban, or that a reinstall will resolve it.
Read and save the complete notice
Record the full wording, where it appears, the time and the launcher or game version. Keep a screenshot for support. If it includes a reference number or account identifier, keep that private except when an official support form requests it.
Distinguish a clear account-block message from a separately named launcher, update or BattlEye service error. Two messages appearing during startup are not necessarily the same issue, and a fix written for a service-start failure should not be presented as a way to reverse an account decision.
If the message says blocked or banned
Use Battlestate Games' official support and the appeal route given in the notice. If it specifically identifies a BattlEye global ban, read BattlEye's support instructions for the information its appeal process needs.
Do not assume that deleting files, changing networks or changing hardware is a ban fix. Those actions do not provide an explanation of your account state. A third-party seller cannot promise to reverse the publisher's decision.
If the message describes a technical failure
Use the official instructions for that exact failure. BattlEye's FAQ has separate entries for service installation, update failures and connection kicks. Those entries are not a verified definition of error 229.
Describe any recent game update, launcher update or connection interruption in your support request. Do not disable security protections or run unknown repair scripts because a forum post uses the same number. This guide does not attribute 229 to a VPN, DNS problem, corrupted profile or hardware restriction without evidence for your case.
Send a useful support request
Include the exact notice, approximate time, platform, launcher version and what happened immediately before it. Explain any basic troubleshooting you already completed so support does not have to guess. Never include a password, payment secret or license key in a public post.
If your separate issue is a Whyper order or license, sign in and open a Whyper support ticket. The Tarkov product page and account-risk guide cover our product information; they cannot determine or change your game account's enforcement state.
